Eric Clapton is the debut solo studio album by British rock musician Eric Clapton, released in August 1970 under Atco and Polydor Records. After being successful with bands including The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, Clapton recorded an album under his own name in late 1969 and early 1970. The album cover shows Clapton sitting in a room which is going to be decorated and in which a ladder, a chair and some carpets are placed.

This two-LP compilation was a crucial factor in the development of Eric Clapton's solo status at a time when the artist himself was incapacitated by drug problems - a fact that was not widely known to the public at that time.

Eric Clapton joins John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and then quits to form Cream - but first he records the Beano album - a classic. It’s affectionately known as the Beano album as it features Clapton reading the British comic on its cover. The album comprises of band originals, mostly written by Mayall and blues classics and features Clapton playing a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar and Marshall amplifier, having swapped it for his Fender Telecaster and Vox AC30 amplifier
