The Ladder 12. Good Enough To Eat ASG emerge from the sandy shores of North Carolina to deliver their fourth full length and Relapse debut ‘Blood Drive’. But what’s most remarkable about ‘Bloodlines is that any of its 12 instantly memorable songs could just as easily be FM radio smash hits. What sets ASG apart from their swampy peers is singer/guitarist Jason Shi’s voice: this is a set of songs that are truly SUNG by a guy who can actually SING. Bloodlines’ is a kick ass blast of sun that elevates ASG to the level of some of their most well-regarded Relapse label-mates like Baroness and Mastodon.

Unlike many of their peers, ASG don't opt for lengthy jams and complex song structures. Instead, Blood Drive is a streamlined collection of tunes that are ingrained in tight songcraft rather than improvisation, an approach that was especially prevalent in the 1990s. ASG actually reference such coveted acts as Stone Temple Pilots and Hum not only in the manner they structure their songs, but also Jason Shi has a strikingly similar voice timbre to some of the greatest singers of that period.
