Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention is a 1985 album by Frank Zappa. The album was originally released in two slightly different versions in the US and Europe. The album's title is a reference to the lobby group, the PMRC, who were campaigning to require record companies to put warning stickers on albums they considered offensive, and to Zappa's former band, the Mothers of Invention.

Just three years into their recording career, the Mothers of Invention released their second double album, Uncle Meat, which began life as the largely instrumental soundtrack to an unfinished film. It's essentially a transitional work, but it's a fascinating one, showcasing Frank Zappa's ever-increasing compositional dexterity and the Mothers' emerging instrumental prowess. It was potentially easy to overlook Zappa's melodic gifts on albums past, but on Uncle Meat, he thrusts them firmly into the spotlight; what few lyrics there are, Zappa says in the liner notes, are.

Zappa would soon part company with the original band and head out as just plain old Frank Zappa for the next album, the highly acclaimed Hot Rats, and the success of that album must have frustrated the old band no end. But anyway, there are still enough musical strengths for this one to be just as popular as Hot Rats, and it is certainly more engrossing than Burnt Weeny Sandwich, but being a double album it was always going to have that advantage, and it is easy to put up with what many may term the "crazy " because it really.

The album has that warm, fat analog sound that just feels good on the ears. All the instruments and vocals are masterfully arranged and recorded so that you can hear (and fetish) every little vibrational morsel. This book also offers a glimpse into the way Frank musically stacked his elements to create tapestries of rich, harmonic sounds. Not to mention, you get all the lyrics to ponder: " 'Arf,' she said.

The Mothers of Invention were an American rock band from California. Formed in 1964, their work is marked by the use of sonic experimentation, innovative album art, and elaborate live shows. Originally an R&B band called the Soul Giants, the band's first lineup included Ray Collins, David Coronado, Ray Hunt, Roy Estrada and Jimmy Carl Black. Frank Zappa was asked to take over as the guitarist following a fight between Collins and Coronado, the band's original saxophonist/leader.
