Pat Suzuki (Japanese: 鈴木千代子; born Chiyoko Suzuki; September 22, 1930, Cressey, California) is an American popular singer and actress, who is best known for her role in the original Broadway production of the musical Flower Drum Song, and her performance of the song "I Enjoy Being a Girl" in the show. Suzuki is a Nisei or second-generation Japanese American, and was born Chiyoko Suzuki, to Chiyosaku and Aki Suzuki, as the fourth of their four daughters.

Flower Drum Song was the eighth musical by the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. It is based on the 1957 novel, The Flower Drum Song, by Chinese-American author C. Y. Lee. It premiered on Broadway in 1958 and was then performed in the West End and on tour. It was adapted for a 1961 musical film.

Rodgers and Hammerstein return to a theme that had served them well in both The King and I and South Pacific: misunderstanding and reconciliation between individuals of differing cultural backgrounds. This 1958 musical revolved around the meeting of old and new worlds in San Francisco's Chinatown. Flower Drum Song has a serviceable score but is not the team's most exciting. The novelty "I Enjoy Being a Girl" is more often excerpted than the lovely and overlooked "Love Look Away. The London cast opened in 1960 and ran for less than 500 performances, but was still.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's eighth Broadway collaboration, based on the 1957 novel, The Flower Drum Song by C. Music by Rodgers, Richard Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II Book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joseph Fields Based on the novel by . The generation gap is given the Rodgers & Hammerstein treatment in this colorful approach to the age-old conflict. The setting for FLOWER DRUM SONG is San Francisco’s Chinatown and all the characters are of Chinese ancestry. Prior to FLOWER DRUM SONG, Rodgers and Hammerstein had enjoyed great success with OKLAHOMA!, CAROUSEL, SOUTH PACIFIC, and THE KING AND I. They were to follow it with the enormously successful THE SOUND OF MUSIC. It should be noted that prior to writing with Rodgers, Hammerstein achieved recognition in earlier collaborations with Jerome Kern, Sigmund Romberg, and other illustrious composers. Mr. Rodgers was, of course, the Rodgers of Rodgers and Hart.
