Far From Home, released in 1994, is the eighth and final studio album by the rock band Traffic, and the first in two decades since the release of When the Eagle Flies in 1974. It was recorded at a large house called Woodstock, outside Kilcoole to the south of Dublin, and mixed at the Chateau Miraval in Correns, southern France.

Far From Home" is sort of a Steve Winwood album with the ghost of Traffic. Not really a true traffic album in the spirit of those before their breakup 20 years before. But could it be with Chris Wood gone and just Winwood and Capaldi left from the original lineup. I do like this album a lot, but I think Far From Home is more truly a Winwood solo album with Capaldi's rhythms driving most of the Traffic feeling in here. Overall about 70% Winwood solo feel and 30% Traffic feel. Like the ghost or a shadow up Traffic is cast upon what would otherwise be another Winwood solo album.

The album they made together sounded for the most part like a Winwood solo album. He played most of the instruments and sang (Capaldi drummed and sang occasional backup vocals), and he didn't show much interest in the lengthy instrumental passages that characterized Traffic in its heyday. Winwood, the composer, had simply moved on from that old style, and since the new Traffic wasn't a band in any real sense, its sound reflected his contemporary concerns. But if you listened to the lyrics, written by Capaldi, you did hear traces of the old Traffic.
