German composer, conductor and clarinetist. Jörg Widmann (born 19 June 1973) is a German composer, conductor and clarinetist. He lives and works in Berlin. Peter Michael Hamel (born 15 July 1947 in Munich) is a German composer. His works have been associated with the minimalist style of composition, and in the late 1970s with the New Simplicity movement. He is the son of the film director Peter Hamel. Hamel studied musical composition, psychology and sociology in Munich and Berlin with teachers including Günter Bialas and Carl Dahlhaus. He then continued his education abroad, spending several extensive periods in Asia (Fricke 2001).

Steffen Schleiermacher has concertized as a soloist with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Münchner Philharmoniker, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and other orchestras under Vladimir Ashkenazy, Friedrich Goldmann, Ingo Metzmacher, Vladimir Jurowski and Fabio Luisi. Schleiermacher's recordings amount to more than 60 CDs (.

For his landscape paintings, Gerhard Richter drew inspiration from Romanticism. He was very fond of German painter Caspar David Friedrich, an influence that is particularly palpable in his seascapes. Like most of his landscapes, "Seascape (Cloudy)" is based on several photographs collaged together into one single image. You might recognise this work from the cover of Sonic Youth’s album Daydream Nation. For photorealist paintings like this one, Richter blurred his motives using brushes, squeegees or his hands. In his notes, he wrote: I blur things so that they do not look artistic or craftsmanlike but technological, smooth and perfect.
