MANNING produce an eclectic mix of music which broadly falls within the 'progressive' genre, but in reality spans many different musical forms from ballads and folk-tinged songs through to all-out rock workouts and true progressive epics. The band experienced a surge of interest and support, with the 2007 album "Songs From The Bilston House" having been nominated for "Album of the Year" by the Classic Rock Society (CRS) and performing a series of storming headline gigs in support of the critically acclaimed follow up album, "Number Ten" (released 2009). Bernard Manning - My Kind Of Music - 12" vinyl LP album.

Bernard John Manning (13 August 1930 – 18 June 2007) was an English comedian and nightclub owner. Manning gained a high profile on British television during the 1970s, appearing on shows including The Comedians and The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club. His act became controversial with the result that Manning was rarely seen on television in the later part of his career, but he continued to perform in theatres and pubs until his death.

The outstanding works of an additional sixty five composers are also presented for the reader’s edification. The author studied Classical Music under Professor Roland Nadeau, founder of the Music Department at Northeastern University, and famous musicologist who broadcast his radio program, A Note to You, on National Public Radio for thirty four years. It was the respected professor who inspired me to write this book in his memory.

  • From - http://downstairslounge.wordpress.com/2010/12/04/bernard-manning-sings-shocker/ His 1975 Warwick Records debut My Kind of Music sees Bernard return to the sort of easy-crooning ballads and standards that influenced his early forays into singing. His vocals are strong and boom out pleasingly behind the strings and carefully arranged harmonies of the Mike Sammes singers. Some songs work and some don’t. When no great demands are made of Bernard then he is a perfectly adequate club singer that certainly wouldn’t curdle your lukewarm pint of Lees bitter or cause the chicken in a basket to shrivel. The problem is that when Bernard has to switch down a notch, the subtlety just simply isn’t there. Trying to imagine Bernard Manning being intimate, caring, lovelorn and sincere is hard. And he can’t really pull it off, the voice is grainy and menacing rather than loving.
