Take Good Care of My Baby" is a song written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin. The song was made famous by Bobby Vee, when it was released in 1961. Garrett told publisher Don Kirshner that he wanted the song for Vee, but he believed the song needed an introductory verse. Garrett met with Carole King, and the introductory verse of Vee's version was written.

I love you more than I should But it keeps me feeling so good I've waited for your love forever You're the one to take good care of my heart.

And yet, this love that you bring is sweeter than spring and warmer than Ma. Come December, when our November is through, we'll face the winter and smile for you know that I'll be staying with yo. When we remember November's sunshine, we won't mind December's rain.

The title track is the keeper, and the fact that the co-writer of Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man" is the album's producer makes it more than just an afterthought. Now a cover of that gem could really have turned some heads in 1968 - and given this album a special place in history - but this BV wasn't as adventurous as Johnny Mathis would be with the subtle and sly dabbling on his Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head adventure.
