Richter: Recomposed By Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons - Shadow 2 - Max Richter, Daniel Hope, Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin, André de Ridder.

Richter loved the Four Seasons growing up but he grew tired of it. He felt it turned into muzak because he too often heard it in supermarkets. He recorded this CD in 2012 with Daniel Hope, the British violinist; German conductor André de Ridder; and the Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin. 3 people found this helpful.

Vivaldi’s beloved 1725 masterwork has proved irresistible to extremely broad audiences-the seasonally themed movements are among the most ubiquitous repertoire in classical music. Using the work as inspirational source material, British composer Max Richter offers a brilliant, haunting reconstruction of the concerti. Richter’s spacious, dreamlike minimalism bears.

Richter has actually rescored the Four Seasons and given the movements of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter thorough makeovers that vary substantially from the originals. Violinist Daniel Hope is the brilliant soloist in these freshly elaborated pieces, and the Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin is conducted with control and assurance by André de Ridder, so Richter's carefully calculated effects are handled.

  • Sounds awfull, especially side C with a lot of background noises. The mastering and the pressing are very bad. If you really want this music, take a digital edition...

  • So am I right in thinking that the first two sides of this are just the Four Seasons by Vivaldi ? and the other is re-mix/composed material using the origional Four Seasons ? If this is so then why ? Surely there are enough pressings of The Four Seasons out there already, right ?

  • A late reply but:A/B are the recomposed versions by RichterC is a collection of ambient interpretations.D are remixes of the recomposed stuff... which are actually not that good.

  • Don´t think is the case. They are the new Richter versions of the original Vivaldi´s (but I don´t own the record so 96% certain only).

  • Beautiful record. Unfortunately, copy did not include a download voucher.

  • My Copy has C&D Labels on both records. The recomposed recording will be still timeless in 30 years same with the electronic soundscapes on Side C, the remixe go in the bin next year ...

  • Wonderful package and pressing. Side C is ambient/environmental remixes of a selection of tracks from A & B.

  • Agreed. The package and pressing are very nice. Disk 2 is pretty unnecessary. But disk one is happenin'!
