Complete your Aki Tsuyuko collection. This album took years to fully grow on me, but it may be said that it took years for me to mature to understand it. For sure, it is an unusual musical statement, but its gentle and innocent beauty cannot be ignored. There are no beats or production tricks, just the pure artistic output of a talented and progressive musician.

Kyoto's Aki Tsuyuko contributed vocals to some of Nobukazu Takemura's most memorable tracks (including the breathtaking "Kepler" from his album Scope), and while touring with him she has performed on a powerbook, but on this solo recording, Tsuyuko makes music with an array of analog and digital keyboards.

Beautiful, overlooked electronic ambient album by Aki Tsuyuko (from Wasurerogusa) called "Ongakushitsu" released on Moikai (Jim O'Rourke's label) and produced by Nobukazu Takemura (Childisc). Sighing fender rhodes with bleepy, dreamy pads embedded in unique, abstract compositions. One of my all time faves! Side A: 00:00 - Flutter 04:54 - Flower On The Ground (地面にはっていた花) 08:28 - Umi No Hanashi (海のはなし). Side B: 14:54 - Dreamy Fish (夢見る魚) 16:53 - A Happy Day 20:47 - Fantasia.

  • fantastic album of minimal and playful synthesizer improvisations, dreamlike, at times haunting and mysterious, unlike anything you've ever heard.. an all-time favorite of mine! Still available on double LP in the US from Moikai via Drag City, strongly recommended..

  • This is a magical album that in many ways defies concrete definition. Its sonic palette is made up of fender Rhodes, pianos and twinkling keyboards. Constantly light and full of abstract melodies, ‘Ongakushitsu’ is a dream like journey through your forgotten childhood memories.Aki combines a feeling of free form composition, with the finger dexterity of a grand piano master. No song sounds alike, yet each one sounds intrinsically linked by beautiful ether. At times the songs are reminiscent of a stroll through an unfamiliar forest, and at others, it is as if you swinging on a swing gently down the shores of your sub consciousness. This album took years to fully grow on me, but it may be said that it took years for me to mature to understand it. For sure, it is an unusual musical statement, but its gentle and innocent beauty cannot be ignored. There are no beats or production tricks, just the pure artistic output of a talented and progressive musician.
