Produced by Nigel Godrich. Harrowdown Hill Lyrics. Don't walk the plank like I did You will be dispensed with When you've become inconvenient Up on Harrowdown Hill Near where you used to go to school That's where I am That's where I'm lying down Did I fall or was I pushed? Did I fall or was I pushed? And where's the blood?

Harrowdown Hill" is a song by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and is the eighth track on his 2006 album The Eraser. And It Rained All Night. The single is a superb mix of dancy bass, jittery drums and creepy political lyrics dealing with David Kelly's suicide. The B-sides however fall flat. Harrowdown Hill was released as the second single off of Thom Yorke’s debut album, The Eraser in August 2006. The Harrowdown Hill single contained two B-Sides in the form of The Drunkk Machine and Jetstream. All three songs, like the rest of Thom Yorke’s solo songs, are heavily electronic. This sound sees Yorke’s voice weave in and out of Lap Top created beats with synth chords and bass riffs filling in the holes. Unlike Yorke’s previous band, Radiohead, the electronics aren’t very smooth and could hardly be called pretty.

Harrowdown Hill" is a song by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and is the eighth track on his 2006 album The Eraser. Harrowdown Hill" was Yorke's first solo single, and one of two to be released from The Eraser; however, the track "Black Swan" had already been issued as a radio-only single in some areas.

  • Any way to tell the difference between the UK one and the US one? They look exactly the same.edit: Woops, the US one has one more track.

  • My vote max'd out even tho I don't think that the B-side is quintessential - It's just that the title song is too good.As far as I know it's about the British government letting down a man involved in the military operations regarding the Iraq War - He was later found dead at Harrowdown Hill.

  • Taken from another site, I think this intepretation of the lyrics to Harrowdown Hill is a very interesting read: Having started with a fairly uncommitted guitar riff that states no obvious mood, 'Harrowdown Hill' blossoms into a more intense song at around 1min 10secs. Still, without an understanding of what the lyrics mean you could play this song endlessly without ever really feeling its true sentiments (and even then, as it's Thom Yorke, you probably still won't really 'get it', I can only theorize on what his feelings were when he was penning this one). The lines "Don't walk the plank, dispensed with," are most likely Yorke invoking a direct voice as Dr. David Kelly: an expert in Biological Warfare, employee of the UK's Ministry of Defence and a former UN Weapons Inspector in Iraq. After his work in Iraq, Dr. Kelly was interviewed by journalist Andrew Gilligan for information to be used on the Today programme. The informationcaused a major political scandal regarding the Iraqi potential for Weapons of Mass Destruction as a reason for the invasion of Iraq by US and British Armed Forces. Days after the interview, Dr. Kelly was found dead in an area known as Harrowdown Hill, about a mile from his Oxfordshire home. While the official line from the Ministry of Defence and the Hutton Enquiry stated that the cause of death was suicide by overdosing on co-proxamol and slitting his left wrist, Norman Baker, a Lib Dem MP, spent a year investigating his death and decided that there was insufficient evidence to support a verdict of suicide and murder was a much more likely reason. This Suicide-Murder debate is captured by the line "Did I fall or was I pushed?" Falling implying suicide, being pushed implying murder. "Where's the blood" most likely refers to the lack of blood around Dr. Kelly's body, evidence that would seem to support the theory that he was murdered elsewhere and his body moved to Harrowdown Hill where it was discovered the next day. The ministry mentioned slightly further on in the song is believed to be a reference to the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence and that they should be asked as they are the ones responsible. Thom Yorke has also been quoted as saying that this is the angriest song he has ever written.
