Floorplan - Victorious In a recent chat with a London vicar, Robert Hood said there wasn't much difference in the way he builds a DJ set and the way he preaches. God has long been a part of Hood's music, and his Christian faith has become a central tenet of his work in recent years. The second Floorplan album feels triumphant enough to bear the title Victorious. It's a stellar follow-up to Paradise, an album that brought even more followers to Hood's flock and helped make him a feel-good festival mainstay. The record is also proof that you don't need to constantly reinvent yourself to stay relevant.

Floorplan – Victorious.

We are VICTORIOUS" (Floorplan). Floorplan is already well known as Robert Hood's house outlet, which this year evolves into a family affair with co-production alongside his daughter, Lyric. Victorious' is the second Floorplan album and follow-up to 2013's 'Paradise' which spawned 'Let's Ride, 'Baby Baby' and the massive 'Never Grow Old'. The new album itself is preceded by the double-headed single 'Music', 'Tell You No Lie'.

Floorplan - Victorious (2016) Lossless. Robert Hood's second album as Floorplan sees him hone in on disco, gospel and house influences to create a proper big room collection. As the driving, disco-loop heavy "Spin" and the ridiculously catchy "Music" demonstrate, the Detroit producer has stripped Floorplan of its techno influences.

  • Although appreciating his music, I've never been a super hardcore fan of Robert Hood. I always felt his tracks to be nice, but sometimes too "tight" and not "full of life" enough for my taste (for example: "Funky Souls", which is cool and funky, but also a bit "empty" and monotonous which is why it didn't work on my dancefloors and left the bag). But with this album, he (and his daughter, welcome to the game and don't listen to the haters!) completely has me on his side. So much groove, disco and gospel in it, full of energy and the euphoria of 1990's oldschool rave tracks I used to grow up with. Love those sermons, and love the siren people talk so much about! For me, but this is just my personal taste of course, this is the one Robert Hood album I will buy and play. Hands up!

  • I so agree! This one - with all these old school and preacher samples - is awesome! Needs real balls to bring these samples in 2016. But it feels so good and reminds me so much of the club feeling 25 years ago. What if back then he would have brought tracks like "Mmm Hmm Hmm" on the dancefloor ...
