Whammy! is the third studio album by American new wave band the B-52's. It was recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, in December 1982 and was produced by Steven Stanley. The record was refined and mastered at Sterling Sound, New York City. It was released on April 27, 1983 in the United States, with Warner Bros. Records as the primary label.

The B-52s (styled as The B-52's prior to 2008) is an American new wave band formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976. The original line-up consisted of Fred Schneider (vocals), Kate Pierson (vocals, keyboards), Cindy Wilson (vocals, percussion), Ricky Wilson (guitar), and Keith Strickland (drums, guitar, keyboards). Ricky Wilson died from AIDS-related illness in 1985, and Strickland switched from drums to lead guitar. The band also added touring members for albums and live performances.

Whatever, the first 3 songs from this album are among the best songs the group wrote. but I like the whole feeling on that album, the drum machine, hands clapping, it sound very good and I like it. It's a much better album then their next one release in 1986 just after Rick die. Reply Notify me Helpful.

Oh God this is the quintessential party album of my life. oh boy! Toddler t4 tháng trước. Planet x it won't be long now. renmysterio4 tháng trước. I pretty much love anything B-52's, but I still prefer "Moon '83" over " Don't Worry"! Trip west5 tháng trước. All time classic a must have.

Smartly, they decided to not simply replicate the skewed Southern funk of that album, choosing to update their signature sound with drum machines and new wave synths. As a result, it now sounds a little forced and dated, but the best moments - "Legal Tender," "Whammy Kiss," "Butterbean," "Song for a Future Generation" - rank as B-52's classics, and the entire record is certainly entertaining, even with its faults. Whammy! was originally released with a cover of Yoko Ono's "Don't Worry

It's always weird when the title track is the best/worst song in a record. Why put so much emphasis on one song" I always think it sets up the album in a strange way. I'm waiting for the title track to kind of inform me on where their heads were at when making a record. Fortunately I think they made a great choice in naming the album Whammy! The song is that good! The first time I heard it I think I almost died.
