II, also known as More Bob Dylan Greatest Hits, is the second compilation album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on November 17, 1971 by Columbia Records. In 2003, this album was released along with Dylan's two other Greatest Hits compilations in one four-disc set, as Greatest Hits Volumes I–III. As with the Beatles' 1962-1966 and The Basement Tapes, all the selections could fit on a single 80-minute CD, but were nevertheless released on two CDs to match the LP. Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II. Greatest hits album by Bob Dylan.
My favourite Bob Dylan album. The most underrated of Dylan's albums. A work of dazzling emotional complexity. Always loved this one. I don't understand why it isn't more highly regarded. 14 The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, the "Royal Albert Hall" Concert. Worth it for the magnificent lead up to Like A Rolling Stone. Telling all the stuck-in-the-mud folkies where to get off.
On Bob Dylan, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, and The Times They Are A-Changin’, he knocked out Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, the New Lost City Ramblers, et al. Another Side of Bob Dylan was a moving and brilliant transitional album, perhaps the most personal work he’s ever done. He managed at least a draw or a TKO over the Beatles and the Stones with Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde on Blonde. Fortunately or unfortunately, none of us, Dylan included, is that divinely crazy any more: the time is just not right for it. We were so much younger then, we’re older than that now. Et cetera. O 1: That’s pathetic! Given Dylan’s history, I can see no reason why his next album couldn’t be his best. I’m not saying it will be, but there’s no real reason to think it won’t. Are you pandering any proof?
BOB DYLAN'S GREATEST HITS ends with material from Dylan's 1966 double album BLONDE ON BLONDE and a single perfectly in step with the sound of HIGHWAY 61 and the double album masterpiece, "Positively 4th Street. BLONDE ON BLONDE created tremors of its own openly embracing the drug culture with the raucous "Rainy Day Women & 35" with its catch phrase, "Everybody must get stoned. In hindsight, despite spanning seven albums, BOB DYLAN'S GREATEST HITS provides little more than a snapshot of a most prolific career but that snapshot is of one of the true titans of 20th century music with the material that made him famous.
Album · 1967 · 10 Songs. 10 Songs, 39 Minutes. Released by his label as he recuperated from his notorious motorcycle accident, this best-of set marks the end of the first phase of Bob Dylan’s career, which saw him go from acoustic folk troubadour in 1963 to a rock ’n’ roll star with a loud backing band by 1966. The sociopolitical Blowin’ in the Wind sounds like back-porch folk next to the surrealist Mr. Tambourine Man, and both I Want You and Just Like a Woman show how quickly Dylan grew as an empathetic songwriter capable of giant hooks.
