Recorded live at Manchester Apollo 22nd December 1995

The Stone Roses is the debut studio album by English rock band the Stone Roses. It was recorded mostly at Battery Studios in London with producer John Leckie from June 1988 to February 1989 and released in May of that year by Silvertone Records. The Stone Roses was not an immediate success, but grew popular with the band's high-profile concert performances, which also helped establish them as fixtures of the Madchester and baggy cultural scenes.

The Stone Roses, who released their landmark debut album 30 years ago this week, did both. The story of the Roses and of that self-titled record – a dreamy, liminal indie classic that is somehow not as adored as it should be – is one of naivety, ambition, and tragicomedy. It is spattered with. The album that carried reggae music to the four corners of the Earth and made Bob Marley an international superstar also set the political tone for many artists to follow. Marley sang of life where the living is hardest in Concrete Jungle and looked back to Jamaica’s ignoble slaving past – No chains around my feet but I’m not free. He packed the album with beautiful melodic numbers, such as High Tide and Low Tide, and rhythmic dance tracks like Kinky Reggae.

I'm on a tightrope, baby, nine miles high Striding through the clouds, on my ribbon in the sky I'm on a tightrope, baby, one thing I've found I don't know how to stop, and it's a long, long, long Long way down. She's all that ever mattered, and all that ever will My cup, it runneth over, I'll never get my fill The boats in the harbour slip from their chains Head for new horizons, let's do the same  . The Stone Roses Lyrics. album: "Second Coming" (1994). Tightrope" lyrics provided for educational purposes and personal use only.

The Stone Roses made a stunning debut, then bled out in a slow agony of contractual disputes, internal discord, and, eventually, public indifference (though their sophomore release and swan song, Second Coming, is nowhere near as bad as people say). More prosaic than drugs or young death, this trifecta killed a career that now essentially consists of just one great record. But the story of The Stone Roses is really a tale of two records, divided by an ocean

The Stone Roses, ‘The Stone Roses’. For a few glorious moments, the Stone Roses looked like they might lead another British Invasion. Instead, they fell apart – but first they made this incredible album, highlighted by the ecstatic eight-minute-long I Am the Resurrection. It single-handedly launched Nineties Brit pop. Listen here. The stone-solid grooves on this underrated gem come courtesy of the Muscle Shoals rhythm section; the soulful guitar comes courtesy of Scaggs and guest Duane Allman. Together, they made Loan Me a Dime an FM-radio classic – more than 10 minutes of knockout blues pleading and wailing.
