1958 Miles is a compilation album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, released in 1974 on CBS/Sony. Recording sessions for the album took place on May 26, 1958, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio and September 9, 1958, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City

In 1974, under the title 1958 Miles they were combined with Love For Sale, which revealed a much less introverted Bill Evans. Original issue: CBS/Sony LP (J) 20AP 1401 in Japan in 1974. Tracks 1-3 originally issued on Jazz Track (CL 1268) on October 19, 1959 Producer: Cal Lampley Engineer: Harold Chapman May 26, 1958 Miles Davis (tpt); Cannonball Adderley (as); John Coltrane (ts); Bill Evans (p); Paul Chambers (b); Jimmy Cobb (d) Columbia 30th Street Studio, NYC Note: Over the years this title.

The New Miles Davis Quintet. 1956 rolled in with a very busy schedule for the quintet. This was the prime time to watch the group live as it gelled during a hectic performance schedule that went almost non-stop between October 1955 and July 1956. The band played New York City, Chicago, Washington DC, Detroit, Cleveland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, St. Louis and other cities. On September 10, 1956 the band played its last session for the album that became ‘Round Midnight on Columbia. The obvious standout track from this session is a great version of Thelonious Monk’s title track. There are thousands of covers of this tune in the world of jazz, and this one, completed by the band in a single take, is definitely up there with the best of them.

From the few recordings they made in 1949 to 1950 came the album "Birth Of The Cool" (1957), with Davis and Evans going on to work more together in the future. Miles Davis was one of the musicians who introduced the 'Hard Bop' in the mid 1950s. In the late 1960s he started to experiment with electronic instruments and rock and funk rhythms.
