Jim and Lukas will be showcasing new material they are writing together, offering a 21st century perspective on traditional song. Five times BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominee Causley is renowned for his warm stage presence and his rich singing voice. With Lukas, the singer/accordionist performs a wide variety of material, both traditional and contemporary as well as his popular homemade settings of Charles Causley poems, as showcased on his album Cyprus Well.

As well as Causley's other poetry dealing with issues of faith, travel, friends and family, his poems for children were popular. He used to say that he could have lived comfortably on the fees paid for the reproduction of "Timothy Winters": Timothy Winters comes to school With eyes as wide as a football pool, Ears like bombs and teeth like splinters: A blitz of a boy is Timothy Winters. The Symposium itself ended with readings from the current Causley Trust Writer-in-Residence at Cyprus Well, Alyson Hallett, and students who attended associated writing workshops. The day as whole was rounded off by an evening reading from the poet Brian Patten.

Jim Causley is one of the finest, most easy-going singers in the British folk revival. His distant relative, Charles Causley, who died in 2003, was one of the most popular British poets of the late 20th century, celebrated for his children's poems and stories of the supernatural or his native Cornwall, with a style partly influenced by his love of folk songs. Now Jim has set some of Charles's poems to music, in an album mostly recorded in the poet's study at Cyprus Well, his former home in Launceston, with Jim playing the poet's old piano and backed by a small band
