Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is a 1960 British drama film directed by Karel Reisz and produced by Tony Richardson. It is an adaptation of the 1958 novel of the same name by Alan Sillitoe, who also wrote the screenplay adaptation. The film is about a young machinist who spends his weekends drinking and partying, all the while having an affair with a married woman.

This song is by Ralph Stanley and appears on the album Saturday Night & Sunday Morning (1992). We were wed in the hills of ol' VirginiaWe were happy there together all aloneBut I strayed away from my darlin'Through this dark and stormy night I'm goin' home. When the high wind blows from heavenI whisper your name aloneI'm on my way back darlin'As the midnight storm rolls on.

Ralph Stanley has become a household name again since the film "O' Brother Where Art Thou". Saturday Night is a raucous group of party tunes, one can tap toes and dance. Sunday Morning has got the greatest blue grass close harmony. in fact you might start collecting Ralph and Carter Stanley's whole catalogue of Cd's.
