Sherman (Songs). The casting employed famous actors and musicians Phil Harris, Sebastian Cabot, George Sanders and Louis Prima, as well as Disney regulars such as Sterling Holloway, J. Pat O'Malley and Verna Felton, and the director's son, Bruce Reitherman, as Mowgli. The Jungle Book was released to positive reception, with much acclaim to its soundtrack, featuring five songs by the Sherman Brothers and one by Gilkyson, "The Bare Necessities". Sterling Holloway voiced Kaa the Indian python. Shere Khan's victim, tree Kaa is determined to catch and eat Mowgli before does. Colonel Hathi the Indian elephant/Buzzie the Vulture.

The Jungle Book is a good humoured movie for young and old. The man character is a small child who was lost in the jungles of India, and lives among the animals. He is raised by wolves and is eventually taken in by a leopard. Mowgli is stubborn and runs off and meets "Jungle Bum" Baloo the Bear (Harris). Baloo and Bageerah soon have to rescue Mowgli from often hilarious perils: uptight Col. Hathi (J. Pat O'mally) and his elephant brigade; ourangutan King Louie (Prima), who is under the impression that Mowgli knows how to make fire; and Kaa (Halloway), the python with a taste for humans and an aching back (What a long ache!). Louis Prima as King Louie, an ape who wants to be a human. George Sanders as Shere Khan, a smart yet merciless Bengal tiger. Sterling Holloway as Kaa, an Indian python who wants Mowgli as prey. J. Pat O'Malley as Colonel Hathi the Indian elephant/Buzzie the Vulture. Verna Felton as Winifred, Colonel Hathi's wife.
