King Of America track list. Billed as The Costello Show, king of America, is Elvis Costello's Americana album. Costello had tried to capture an authentic stateside sound on his country covers LP, almost blue, but where as that album sounded forced and phony, king of America, sounds real and lived in. It features probably Costello's best collection of songs since, imperial bedroom, and they're all delivered in a . country/blues/folk hybrid

It was billed as by "The Costello Show featuring the Attractions and Confederates" in the UK and Europe and "The Costello Show featuring Elvis Costello" in North America. Content. During late 1984 and early 1985, Costello undertook a series of solo tours, sharing the bill with musician T-Bone Burnett. Costello and Burnett recorded a single together in early 1985, and ventured to imagine appropriate backing musicians for Costello's new songs.

Elvis Costello and the Attractions played live gigs as early as the summer of 1977, and a few live tracks were appended to the B-side of the Costello solo single "Watching The Detectives", issued in October 1977. The full band made their studio recording debut with the March 1978 single "(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea". The album featured original compositions by all three group members, and was produced by Roger Bechirian. The Brain/Hart composition "Single Girl" was released as the first single from the album, followed by the Nieve-composed "Arms Race" as the second single. In early 1986, Costello released King of America, billed to The Costello Show and made largely without the Attractions.

Well I had a little feeling to have a big night And I woke up feeling small and not so brave and not quite right I had to face the who am I and where is she and what did I do But worst of all I had to face the big light.
