Suicide emerged alongside the early glam punk scene in New York, with a reputation for its confrontational live shows. Many of the band's early shows were at the Mercer Arts Center, alongside bands such as the New York Dolls and Eric Emerson and the Magic Tramps. David Johansen once played harmonica with Suicide in an early show there. 1988 – A Way of Life The 2005 Blast First/Mute/EMI CD reissue has a slightly different mix of the album, most notably the song "Surrender", and includes a live bonus disc recorded in 1987. Videos for Dominic Christ and Surrender by Stefan Roloff. 2002 – American Supreme Initial CD copies included a live bonus disc recorded in 1998.

Funnily enough, Suicide are victims of themselves. Their 1977 debut album is so ridiculously unique, innovative, and influential that it's easy to forget that they've made other records  .

This remarkable debut album, released a full seven years after the group had formed, was still way ahead of its time back in 1978. Suicide-Alan Vega on vocals and Martin Rev on keyboards and drum machine-are one of the most original acts in the history of popular music. This reissue is bright and clear-sounding, and with the full disc of live performances (a 1977 CBGB's soundboard tape plus the legendary "23 Minutes Over Brussels" performance) this is an essential purchase.

Suicide (1977 album). After listening to it he went to New York to see the group perform live and negotiate a deal to license their music for Bronze. The album failed to chart in both the United States and the United Kingdom. A single for the song "Cheree" was released in May 1978 on both 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl. A Way of Life (1988). American Supreme (2002).

A Way of Life's accompanying live disc is a challenging encounter between the band and their audience at the Town and Country Club, London, 13th December 1987. It features no holds barred renditions of a Way of Life's 'Dominic Christ', 'Devastation', 'Jukebox Baby 96' and the gut wrenching 'Harlem' from their second LP. Track List. Disc 1. 01. Wild In Blue.

Much of the acclaim surrounding Suicide, the collaborative work of Alan Vega (vocalist and visual artist) and Martin Rev (keyboardist and sound-sculptor), is grounded in a hate-love discourse. They were infamously despised at the outset, but now boast accolades from all points of the pop circle, from . to The Revolting Cocks, from Moby and . to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. These two reissues find Suicide at a quasi-crossroads. A Way of Life was originally released in 1988; Why Be Blue? in 1992. They are mid-career documents that find the band struggling to succeed (commercially) and struggling with (critical) success. With their second album, DAD IS BAD, the experimental electronic duo Budokan Boys continue to build a soundtrack for a broken world. Lydia Luce Revisits "Sausalito" with a Live Performance (premiere).
