The Global Village" is the 2nd full-length studio album by Italian progressive metal act Madsword. The album was released in 2000 by Underground Symphony. The music on the album is progressive metal with a good balance between guitars and keyboards. the guitars have the main focus but the keyboards are grand and omnipresent. Lead vocalist Andrea "Bedo" Bedin has a strong voice that suits the music well. He can sing high pitched notes but he varies his singing in a good way during the album. His vocals are pretty strongly accented but its not someting that ruins.

I had never heard of Madsword when I picked up this album, but it looked interesting and I was in the mood for some prog. Just from the title and cover, you can tell The Global Village will have a modern, even futuristic, sound (it does. This isn't something I've heard a lot, with maybe Sun Caged being the closest thing I can think of. Obviously there's a lot of synth influence, but there's a good number of acoustic sections that caught me off guard as well. It's hard to judge based on one album (and I'm disappointed that they split up,) but I'd say Madsword is like Dream Theater with more emotion and variety. I'd also say they're less progressive rythmically, but have way more unique melodies. What I REALLY like about.
