The Federation is an American hip hop group from Fairfield, California. The group was formed in 2002, composed by producer Ricardo "Rick Rock" Thomas and consists of three rappers: Anthony "Goldie Gold" Caldwell, Marvin "Doonie Baby/Doon Koon" Selmon and Thomas "Stressmatic" Jackson. The group released their debut studio album in 2004 on Virgin Records and their sophomore album through Reprise Records in 2007, which is, to date, their recent effort.

Rick Rock Presents Federation: The Album is the debut studio album by American hip hop group The Federation. It was released on October 5, 2004 via Virgin Records, and was entirely produced by Rick Rock. It also features guest appearances from Daz Dillinger, E-40, and Twista among others

Federation The Album by Federation. com, this product will be manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. com's standard return policy will apply. Some might call this album cohesive and, although I do find a lot of the tracks to be rather too similar in tone (except for "Ghetto Love Song" which stands out as a persuasive ballad about the damage lovers can cause each other), I have to say that every song on "The Album" hits hard with a fierce beat and some biting lyrics. Even the usual lame rap skits, though they're on here, are kept brief, limited and they fade into the general album sound. I never skip through anything on this CD because it's completely solid from start to finish.

Rick Rock (born Ricardo Thomas) is an American record producer originally from Montgomery, Alabama and based in Fairfield, California. He is a founding member of the former rap group Cosmic Slop Shop and the Federation (band) with fellow rapper Doonie Baby, and is regarded as a pioneer of the hip-hop subgenre Hyphy. Rick Rock began to make a name for himself in 1996 when well known Vallejo Producer Mike Mosley invited him to come to the studio to meet E-40.

During the early to mid-2000s, rap producer Rick Rock rose in stature quite a bit, to the point where Virgin Records gave him the go-ahead to record an album with a group of his own, Federation

Rick Rock: Nah, I’m not dropping another Federation album. But I am dropping my album. Rick Rock: Yeah, I’m slated to get down for five tracks. We haven’t got in yet. Short’s finishing his album right now. And me and 40 is working on his shit. So I think once they finish that, then they can get in.
