Everything Went Black is a compilation album by the American hardcore punk band Black Flag. It was released in 1982 through SST Records. The compilation comprises early songs recorded before Henry Rollins became the band's vocalist in 1981, and was initially released without the group's name on its cover, due to their lawsuit with MCA/Unicorn. Instead, the names of the group members were listed on the first release. All songs written and composed by Greg Ginn, except where noted.

Black Flag was the most important underground American rock band of the late 20th Century. The first full-fledged DIY punk group did not come from New York City or glitzy Hollywood, but from the sterile LA suburbs of Hermosa Beach, CA. The band’s early ’80s tours created the American hardcore movement. Almost everything that went on around Black Flag was intense. For a spell in 1983, they were barred from touring and recording due to a suit with MCA over a failed distribution deal. The best live punk album of all time (other than Heartbreakers’ Live At Max’s Kansas City) was recorded live at The Starry Night in Portland, Oregon in late 1985. This recording displays a hot band firing on all cylinders, blasting out the best songs on each of their latter-era releases, not just My War and Slip It In but Loose Nut and In My Head.

1982's Everything Went Black is a Black Flag compilation album comprised of material recorded from 1978 to 1981 prior to Henry Rollins joining the group. Due to a legal dispute with Unicorn Records, the band was prevented from using the Black Flag name and the album was originally released with just the names of the group members on the cover. The 25-song, double album features such Black Flag classics as "Louie Louie," "Jealous Again," "Damaged," and "Police Story," and includes more than one version of several songs

Everything Went Black is an American Hardcore, Punk band. Everything Went Black, Fister. On their gut-wrenching debut album "Let Pain Be Your Guide," screamo revivalists Portrayal of Guilt demonstrate their transcendent potential, beyond a shadow of a doubt, in a blinding flash. Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 30, 2018. The New Jersey outfit cast a gothic pall over hard-hitting hardcore, leaving us with a deliciously murky set of pit-starters.
