Foreign Affairs is the fourth studio album by New Zealand singer and songwriter Sharon O'Neill. It was O'Neill's final studio album release on CBS. The album was certified Gold in New Zealand. Late in 1981, O'Neill moved from New Zealand to Sydney, Australia to pursue her music career, where she wrote "Maxine", a song that chronicled the life of a prostitute. In a 2016 interview, O'Neill said; "I was living in a hotel in Kings Cross when I got the inspiration to write "Maxine"

About Sharon O'Neill. b. 23 November 1952, Nelson, New Zealand. O’Neill is an established singer-songwriter in her native country. She first began performing in the early 70s, winning several ‘Queen Of Pop’ awards and appearing as vocalist/pianist with a number of soft rock bands, including Suitewater, Chapta and Shiner. She signed a recording contract with CBS Records in September 1978. Unlike other singer-songwriters her material was piano-based rather than guitar, but her music always involved a band.
