Frightened Rabbit's third studio LP finds them with a bigger, more sophisticated sound to match their newly-expanded band and a slightly sunnier outlook. Though it has only been two years since Frightened Rabbit released their breakout sophomore album, Midnight Organ Fight, a lot has changed. The Scottish group began as a trio featuring brothers Scott and Grant Hutchison and their friend Billy Kennedy, but they blossomed into a quartet during their last tour and are now a five-piece with the addition of Make Model's Gordon Skene. The band's sound has also expanded

Whilst touring in support of The Midnight Organ Fight, Scott Hutchison noted that he was "excited at the prospect of being in the studio again," and that stated that he "can't do another break-up album 'cause I haven't had one this year! Maybe it'll just be a little less focused on me. .Frightened Rabbit announced via social media their fifth album, Painting of a Panic Attack, would be released on 8 April 2016 Frightened Rabbit released a new song "Fields of Wheat" on 11 July 2017, with the band stating, "We made this recently. It felt like the song should go out now, because it’s about what’s happening no. In late 2017, the band released an EP, entitled Recorded Songs.

The Winter of Mixed Drinks is the forthcoming third studio album by Scottish indie rock band Frightened Rabbit, due for release on March 1, 2010 on Fat Cat Records. The album's title comes from a line in the song "Living in Colour". Vocalist and guitarist Scott Hutchison notes that the album is: "about an escape and maybe even a slight breakdown. I have to say, it's semi-fictional

  • I was a fan of Frightened Rabbit after hearing the album 'Midnight Organ Fight', I was dissapointed when I first heard this as it isn't as instant, the songs are growers and need to be listened to more than once. The sound is more fuller and multi-layered than previous albums. Scott Hutchison's vocal are still quavery, raw and powerful complimenting the lyrics which are more optimistic than previous albums but still hold the same sense of dark, bittersweet frustration. The themes are similar mainly dealing with make up/break up relationship issues but it seems more playful. Stand out tracks are 'Swim until you can't see land' - a more optimistic sequel to 'Floating', 'Foot shooter' and the achingly beautiful 'Yes, I would'. Every song is great but it takes a few listens to get use to, where as with 'Midnight Organ Fight' I instantly fell in love with it. For anyone who likes grown up music with a raw power and a rich soundscape this is for you. 5/5
