People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm is the debut album by American hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest, released on April 10, 1990 on Jive Records.

Featuring – Jarobi, The Rhythm Kids. Illustration – Bryant Peters, Paije Hunyady. Legal – Julian K. Petty, Nick Rosenberg. Liner Notes – Harry Allen, Harry Allen. Management – Red Alert Productions. Management – Kyle Tessiero. Management – Monica J. Talavera.

A Tribe Called Quest's seminal debut is an album that's largely focused outside of itself and its creators. There are three added cuts for this reissue-remixes by Pharrell, J. Cole, and CeeLo-that are passable and melodic but unneeded. Tribe's music needs no updating, even when it sticks out like a sore thumb, because that's exactly what it did in 1990. But were they released today they'd seem right on time, while being out of place-because all these many years later People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm is more than a nostalgia artifact. It's a worthy listen, not because of what it was, but because of what it is.

First off, its colorful, childlike artwork got upgraded to a sturdy silver hologram for releases on both CD and double-LP. The overall sound gets an upgrade from Bob Power, the engineer who helped Tribe achieve the highs in their beats and rhymes, and the lows in their theories

A Tribe Called Quest is one of the most influential and most lauded acts in Hip Hop EVER. After the Jungle Brothers in 1988 and De La Soul in 1989, A Tribe Called Quest was the next Native Tongues act to blow up and leave their inextinguishable mark on music in general and Hip Hop in particular

I felt like A Tribe Called Quest was consciously taking the listener along with them on their travels, but as a teenager I was going through my own quest trying to discover myself. Listening to the album for the first time was one of those moments where I placed a mental bookmark on what an album could and should be. Songs like ‘Push It Along’, ‘Footprints’, and ‘Rhythm (Devoted To The Art Of Moving Butts)’ had me wondering how they put these beats together and what the hell they sampled. Twenty five years on, I can still throw on People’s Instinctive Travels and The Paths Of Rhythm and instantly transported be back to when I first heard this album; a time when the rap world was in a state of flux. A Tribe Called Quest had made their own unique mark on the game, cementing the influence of the Native Tongues crew.
