Queens of the Stone Age is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released by Loosegroove Records on October 6, 1998. It was primarily written and recorded in April 1998 by founding member Josh Homme and his former Kyuss bandmate Alfredo Hernández, with Hernández playing drums and Homme singing and playing the rest of the instruments. Homme also produced the album alongside Joe Barresi

Villains is the seventh album from Queens of the Stone Age, released August 25, 2017 via Matador Records. Frontman Josh Homme talked about the meaning behind the title, Villains, in a press release stating that it had nothing to do with our current political situation. The title Villains isn’t a political statement. I tried to slowly encourage that but now it’s ‘please f-ing dance’, he says. I love that you could be there at the good moments of someone’s life, soundtrack people being together and dancing and we were there playing.

Everything you need to know from the authority on music, entertainment, politics and pop culture. Queens of the Stone Age always sounded like the best glam-band name ever, and while Josh Homme’s free-ranging heavy rock hypnotists were never quite that, they come as close as ever on Villains. I was born in the desert May 17, in ’73 Homme declares on the opener, Feet Don’t Fail Me – which is true, in fact. It also happens to be a date near glam’s peak, and the echo of Rick Derringer’s spangled ’73 top-40 anthem Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo is probably no accident, either. No Queens record has prioritized groove like this, and it reboots their brand nicely.
