Junior Wells held court at Theresa's Tavern at 4801 South Indiana on Chicago's south side. If Junior was in town, he was at Theresa's, a surprisingly small tavern several steps below street level with no bandstand, no ticket window, unreliable plumbing, an assortment of beer and liquor signs for brands the house never (or no longer) carried, and Christmas lights all year round.

Junior Wells (born Amos Wells Blakemore J. December 9, 1934 – January 15, 1998) was an American Chicago blues vocalist, harmonica player, and recording artist. He was one of the pioneers of the amplified blues harp-style associated with Chicago. Wells is best known for his signature song "Messin' with the Kid" and his 1965 album Hoodoo Man Blues, described by the critic Bill Dahl as "one of the truly classic blues albums of the 1960s".

On Tap" is the finale grande in Junior's trilogy of Delmark releases spanning nearly a decade {1965-1974}. Lawhorn, an alumnus of Muddy Waters mid 60's early 70's band's was one of the windy city's most underrated blues guitarist's and he showcases his talent's tastefully here.

Hoodoo Man Blues is the 1965 debut album of blues vocalist and harmonica player Junior Wells, performing with the Junior Wells' Chicago Blues Band, an early collaboration with guitarist Buddy Guy. Released on LP by Delmark Records, the album has been subsequently reissued on CD and LP by Delmark and Analogue Productions

Junior Wells (born December 9, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee, died January 15, 1998), born Amos Wells Blakemore J. was a blues vocalist and harmonica player based in Chicago. He made his first recordings for States in 1953 and continued to record regularly up until his death, from 1965 often in the company of guitarist Buddy Guy.

  • I bought this fine LP new in Regina, Sask., around the time it first came out. It's damned funky and my favourite--even if it's not the classic blues of his other output with Buddy Guy. (Of that ilk, Drinking TNT... is my fave.)

  • "Watch me Move" should have been released as a 45. Seriously heavy Funk!
